On the Bag is a documentary film about Irish-Australian Dennis Hayes, an aging divorcee golf caddy who works for Kanna Takanashi, the only Japanese woman on the Ladies European Golf Tour.
Filmmakers Jesse James Miller and Andrew White follow the couple by bus, plane and train through Ireland, Italy and Portugal, observing firsthand the painful yet sometimes comic deterioration of the pair’s professional relationship.
The good hearted yet volatile Dennis, who leads a hand-to-mouth existence and lacks sleep, money and tact, makes more than a few crucial errors both on and off the course. This ultimately leads to a decision, whichwill dramatically change both their lives.
